BIO
Ph.D. in Agriculture Engineering, CSIC Research Scientist at the Institute for Sustainable Agriculture of the CSIC in Cordoba. His primary research focuses on developing new technologies applied to crop management, breeding, and agronomy research.
He has over 20 years of experience in remote sensing, from satellite and UAV imagery to robotic platforms equipped with LiDAR and hyperspectral sensors. In 2006, during his Ph.D. work, he developed together with his supervisor Pablo Zarco-Tejada, some of the first works on the use of UAVs in agricultural applications.
After seven years working at CSIRO in Australia, he returned to Spain in 2017 to join the Institute for Sustainable Agriculture of CSIC in Cordoba. He is now the head of AgroPhenoLab, developing new technologies applied to the agricultural sector. He advocates the Open-Source philosophy and has developed different open-source tools for data acquisition and analysis and sensor networks.
